Perkz officially leaves Cloud9

After playing 1 season in North America, Luka “Perkz” Perkovic left Cloud9 to look for a chance to return to Europe.

Cloud9 announced the separation of mid-laner Perkz. A source from Dexerto said Perkz has expressed his intention, decided to leave with the management because he wanted to be closer to his family. That means the next destination of the Croatian star will be the LEC.

Specifically, Team Vitality is the team that reached an agreement to recruit Perkz before the 2022 season. In addition, the France-based team also plans to bring in Barney “Alphari” Morris and Matyas “Carzzy” Orsag to complete its formation. Before officially parting with Cloud9, Perkz was involved in a controversy regarding the possibility of landing on Fnatic.

Perkz leaves the ranks of Cloud9

A year ago, Perkz and G2 Esports parted ways. At that time, the European team sent the midlaner to Cloud9. A team with which he has had a great year. So much so that he finished first during the Spring Split of the League Championship Series ( LCS ) and managed to win the first edition of the Mid-Season Showdown. Not only that, but the American team also managed to reach the playoffs for Worlds 2021, leaving out Rogue.

However, Perkz recognized that it was time to return to Europe and be close to his family. Despite having spent great moments with Cloud9, he knows that his place is in the Old Continent. Perkz admitted that his arrival in Los Angeles was difficult. With the pandemic still affecting regular life, the player suffered from stress problems and lack of sleep.

Still, Perkz raved about the organization and all those who were his peers this year. He even left a small dart with the phrase, “I have been released from the G2 prison contract.” In turn, the players also spoke highly of the Croatian, acknowledging that he always encouraged them even in the worst moments.

Now it only remains to know what will happen to the future of Perkz. As we reveal, the fate of the midlaner would be tied to Team Vitality, so we’ll have to wait for next November 15 to find out what happens to the player.

Perkz did not win any major titles with Cloud9

After rumors of Perkz leaving Cloud9 appeared, Fnatic immediately contacted to recruit the player born in 1998. However, Fnatic began to feel outraged by the direct intervention of a team, G2 Esports. Because when Perkz left G2 Esports, there was a clause in the contract between G2 Esports and Cloud9 that prevented Perkz from wearing Fnatic.

Therefore, Fnatic reported the incident to Riot Games. However, Riot Games confirmed that both G2 Esports and Cloud9 did not break the law and will not be penalized. However, Riot Games insists that it will prevent cases like Perkz in the future. For Perkz to leave, Cloud9 has not yet targeted any potential names to replace.

Cloud9’s roster currently includes top laner Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami, support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme, AD carry Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, and jungler Robert “Blaber” Huang. Besides Perkz, Zven is another player with a high probability of leaving Cloud9 because of his unstable performance in the last 2021 season.
