ESL reveals 2022 CS:GO Pro Tour updates

One of the biggest esports organizers in the world, ESL, has announced big changes to its events calendar for 2022 and the remaining months of 2021. It also includes restructuring of the ESL Pro Tour Circuit, which means that one of the most prestigious competitions, the ESL Pro League (EPL) has been modified and upgraded.

From next year, all the competitions of the ESL Pro Tour Circuit will be organized by the ESL. The prestigious DreamHack Open tournaments will now be known as the ESL Challengers. Moreover, the renowned ESE Premier, which allows the best teams to compete in the EPL, has been renamed the ESL Challenger League.

To date, all the events of the Dreamhack open offered qualifying spots for the masters level competitions Pro Tour ESL and were never directly associated with EPL. Now in 2022, the teams that win the ESL Challenger events will qualify for the EPL Conference. In these competitions, they will get a chance to secure qualification for the Major Leagues and compete against the strongest teams in the competitive landscape of CSGO. The details related to the EPL conference will be revealed in the next few weeks.

For the remaining calendar of 2021, we will have Three Championship events and three ESL Pro Tour Masters tournaments. It will include the IEM Fall, the final Regional Major Ranking (RMR) competition, and the last two Challengers. The organizer has also revealed that the organizers are in negotiation talks with CSGO to host the Rio de Janeiro Major in 2022. The competition was initially planned to take place in 2020 but had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

We can look forward to having six Masters events in 2022, which will be hosted by the ESL. The competition will be hosted in the United States, China, Cologne, and Katowice. We will also have Challenger competitions in the Netherlands, Australia, Spain, and the US. In 2022, ESL also plans to organize four Challenger League seasons. The number of teams has also been expanded since now 43 teams will compete in the ESL Pro League, instead of 24.

There will be more than 25 competitions as part of the 2022 ESL Pro Tour CS: GO seven tournaments of the ESL Pro Tour Masters, more than ten national and four each Challenger events, and Challenger Leagues.

  • March 9th to April 10th, 2022 – EPL season 15
  • May 31st to June 5th, 2022 – IEM US
  • June 14th to 19th, 2022 – EPL season 16 Conference
  • July 5th to 17th, 2022 – IEM Cologne
  • August 31st to October 2nd, 2022 – EPL season 16
  • November 22nd to 27th, 2022 – EPL Season 17 Conference
  • December 6th to 11th, 2022 – IEM China
