Amazon new name title of League of Legends European Masters

Amazon new name title of League of Legends European Masters

Amazon has shown interest in the world of video games for some time. First the Seattle giant bought Twitch, the world’s number 1 video game streaming platform, then the creation of Amazon Gaming. But Amazon didn’t stop there, Amazon understood the importance of eSports.

Once Amazon understood the possible economic return, the Seattle giant immediately got busy. Amazon became the name sponsor of the League of Legends European Masters. A very clever move that confirms the intention to enter the eSports world starting from the most popular one at the moment.

LOL’s European Masters is the second tier of League of Legends competition in Europe, below the LEC. While in the LEC there are 10 fixed teams, a bit like the NFL, in the European Masters the event is open to all European professional, semi-professional and amateur teams who want to try their hand at a competitive tournament.

Amazon has signed a 1-year deal and from now on the tournament will be called the Amazon European Masters. The tournament started on August 30th and is made up of 4 groups of 4 teams. This is the first title sponsor that Riot finds in European competitions as a sign of how much LOL is growing in the old continent. For Amazon this is a move that has a very clear logic, given that the Seattle giant has created a University eSports in Europe where it helps fans to improve and try to compete in competitive tournaments of a certain level.

Amazon already sponsors BLAST’s first event events and intend to do even more in the world of eSports. For an enthusiast who wants to try to challenge the best, Amazon’s University eSports is definitely a place to start. “We are thrilled to welcome Amazon to the EU Masters, the venue for the top-tier competition between European regional leagues that shines the spotlight on rising stars across the region,” said Zeynep Gencaga, senior business development manager at Riot Games in Europe.

A very important partnership for Riot Games and LOL who want to become the number 1 eSports in Europe too.
