EA partners with BBC for FIFA 21 Global Series EU

More and more broadcasters are trying to enter the world of eSports. The confirmation comes from the UK where the BBC is also moving in the direction of eSports.

The BBC has found a collaboration agreement with Electronic Arts to broadcast the upcoming FIFA 21 Global Series on its digital and non-digital platforms. With this agreement, regional qualifiers and playoffs for the FIFA Global Series Europe will go live and pre-recorded on BBC iPlayers and the BBC Sport website starting Saturday 20 February.

Of course, EA will continue to stream its competitions live on EA Sports FIFA’s Twitch and YouTube channels. However, the collaboration with the BBC will allow to reach a wider audience and above all those who had not yet approached the world of eSports.

“We see competitive FIFA games as an extension of football fandom and the BBC is the ideal partner as it will allow millions of UK fans the opportunity to watch one of the most popular games played at the highest level,” said the commissioner for EA Sports FIFA competitive games Brent Koning.

BBC iPlayer will provide live coverage of every FIFA match, up to eight hours per day, while also being available as a VOD on the platform for 30 days after airing.

Here is the current schedule that EA and the BBC have prepared for viewers.

Three regional qualifiers: 20 and 21 February
Four regional qualifiers: 20 and 21 March
Five regional qualifiers: 24 and 25 April
EU playoffs: to be defined
